Weston Cook will be the first to tell you that problems don’t bother him, they give him energy. Where others see barriers, he sees potential and this mindset has helped him build a company with a culture that sees, and seizes, opportunities.

After working as a management consultant for several years, Weston became the CFO of an event company, an industry he knew nothing about. With an experienced team already in place, he learned everything he could about providing events of all sizes with end-to-end equipment rental services as well as 24/7 customer support. In 2007 he purchased the company – rebranded as Special Events – with the mission to continue delivering flawless service to clients throughout Northern California. When Special Events outgrew their existing location, Weston leveraged 504 funds to purchase a large overflow site for dedicated, secure equipment storage.

From the economic downturn in 2008 to the pandemic shutdown in 2020, Special Events has weathered challenging times. Weston views every bump in the road as a chance to learn and grow. He empowers his employees to create solutions that benefit the company and build their skills as individual contributors and that, he says, is the best part of his job.
