SBA RESOURCES FOR VETERAN OWNED BUSINESSES
SBA RESOURCES FOR VETERAN OWNED BUSINESSES
The U.S. Small Business Administration has a strong history of supporting veteran-owned businesses and Bay Area Development Company has had the privilege of calling several of these businesses our clients over the years. In honor of National Veterans Small Business Week (November 3-7, 2025), we would like to shine a light on three of the programs created specifically to support veteran entrepreneurs.
VetLoan Advantage
This program was launched by the SBA in 2024 in partnership with NADCO (National Association of Development Companies). Bay Area Development Company and other participating Certified Development Companies are offering qualifying veteran-owned businesses a
rebate of up to $3,000 for professional fees associated with purchasing commercial property, including appraisals and environmental reports. Even better, veteran-owned businesses receive priority loan application processing from the SBA, with turnaround times as quick as one day in some cases! To be eligible, the applicant must be a small business owner who is a veteran or active-duty military with a minimum ownership of 51% in the operating company.
Veterans in Manufacturing
If you are a veteran with a small manufacturing business, the SBA has even more ways for you to save while you grow your business. As we shared in our last blog, in fiscal year 2026 the SBA 504 upfront fee and annual service fees will be waived for manufacturers with NAICS Code 31-33. By the numbers, the upfront fee is 2.15% and the ongoing fees paid by the borrower as part of their monthly payment will be discounted by approximately 21bp. These savings can make a real difference if you plan to purchase commercial real estate or equipment for your manufacturing business.
Veterans Business Outreach Centers
Outside of funding options, the SBA has several support programs to help veterans, service members, National Guard and Reserve members, military spouses, and family members start their small business strong and grow it smart. From transition assistance to business mentoring to business planning, the Veterans Business Outreach Centers’ (VBOC) free entrepreneurial development services offer real-world advice from professionals who are committed to standing with you and helping you succeed. Click here to find the VBOC near you.
To all veterans, thank you for your service to our country. If you own a small business, you join more than 2.5 million other veterans who are creating jobs, generating revenue, and making a significant difference in communities across the country. Please reach out to our team to learn more about the SBA’s programs created specifically for veterans. We would be honored to talk with you.
